Community Project

Crochet It! A Creative Community Project at Middle Country Public Library

Artist Carol Hummel with be visiting Middle Country Public Library in Centereach on June 10th and 11th to kick-off our creative community tree wrapping project! Colorful crocheted circles created by community members will culminate in two unique tree art installations at our library in September 2017.

Crochet It! Kits, complete with all the materials needed to create the needed circles, will be available for pick up at the Centereach Adult Services reference desk beginning on June 10th.

Join us on June 10th - 10:00am - 12:00 pm OR June 11th - 2:00pm - 4:00pm MCPL - Centereach.

    For children entering 1st – 4th grade.
    Come learn about butterflies then create your own butterfly feeder to place in your garden at home.

    Join us at the library and Hobbs Community Farm to learn about the benefits of organic gardening and to serve the community by planning, preparing, planting, caring for and harvesting gardens, in both the library’s Nature Explorium and at Hobbs Farm. This program is sponsored by the TD Charitable Foundation.

  • Gardening Fun at Hobb’s Farm (J973)
    For children entering K – 2nd grade. Parent/caregiver must stay at the farm for the duration of the program.
    Join us at Hobb’s Farm for this interactive and fun program presented by the teens of MCPL’s Gardening Crew. Help out with harvesting and caring for the gardens, learn about healthy food choices and then make a healthy and delicious snack to eat.

    For teens entering 6th – 12th grade.
    Join the Guerrilla Gardening Movement and practice little random acts of growing in your neighborhood. Get your hands dirty, help increase green space, and have fun tossing these handmade seed bombs into forgotten and random places that could use some growing love! Learn to fold a newspaper page cup for carrying home.
